**Volunteers Needed** to Complete New Horizon Village

After July 1, the City of Berkeley, in partnership with Dorothy Day House and Rebuilding Together, will be opening up the newest shelter, the Horizon Transitional Village Program on Grayson St in Southwest Berkeley. Once open, this will fulfill our plans to create a new shelter for unhoused residents that have become disproportionately spread throughout our West Berkeley neighborhoods. Initially, it will be able to provide 50 people a place to live, in addition to providing meals, workshops, services and more to our most vulnerable neighbors.

We need your help completing the final work that must be done before we are ready to open. That is why we are making a call for volunteers to assist so we can make this highly anticipated project a reality. Volunteers are needed for a wide range of tasks, regardless of your skill level. This includes beautification such as painting and landscaping, carpentry and construction, cleaning, and administrative support. Come and join me and my office! If you are able to spend a couple of hours over the next few weeks, your support will be greatly appreciated, and your efforts will be going towards a noble cause.

A few years ago, the opening of the Pathways Project, the East Bay's first Navigation Center, was made possible through the help of many volunteers, and has since become a template for other successful navigation centers. With your help, we can continue our efforts in supporting our unhoused community.

Thank you to our partners and sponsors for your help on this project, including: Dorothy Day House, City of Berkeley, Samuel Merritt University, Ashby Lumber, East Bay Community Foundation, Bayer, Mechanics Bank, and Lowe's. We hope that you will be able to join us in this community effort.
