Statement on the 2020 State of the Union Address

Mayor Jesse Arreguin issued the following statement regarding the 2020 State of the Union Address.

“No matter how many times Trump lies about Sanctuary Cities, the facts remain unchanged. Sanctuary cities are safer and more economically prosperous. The State of the Union is supposed to be an opportunity to bring our country together under a common vision, yet Trump used it to provide racist rhetoric aimed at division and creating discontent towards Latinos. America knows that our immigrant community is a key part of the tapestry of American society, and that we are stronger as a nation when we are inclusive and welcoming.”
